FLOODGATE: The Lost Tracks
February 17, 2002FLOODGATE/EXHORDER frontman Kyle Thomas recently commented on the existence of an ultra-rare demo recording of FLOODGATE that took place several months following the group's split with Roadrunner Records back in 1997. Containing the tracks "Distorted", "Hold Your Tongue" and "Save the Shark", the tape was, according to Thomas, a much better representation of what FLOODGATE was supposed to be since we did it on our own. When we recorded [the FLOODGATE debut CD] Penalty, I fought Roadrunner tooth and nail on a daily basis since they tried their best to make us a carbon copy of C.O.C. and DOWN. Both of those bands are good but surely I never needed (wanted) any help with ideas on how to represent myself. Sometimes that worked against me! At the moment, tentative plans exist for the group to release a limited-edition CD containing the tracks from the above-mentioned sessions along with live DAT recordings made at the London stop of the group's 1996 European tour with SEPULTURA. We'll have more information on this as it becomes available.
